Fair Practice is delighted to announce its formal partnership with the Mediation Society of South Africa (MSSA), a Recognised Mediation Organisation (RMO) under the Revised Mediation Directive and Protocol for the Gauteng Division of the High Court (June 2025).
As part of this collaboration, Fair Practice will operate as an approved training partner under the MSSA umbrella, delivering mediation training that is both SABPP and now DiSAC-accredited nationally and aligned with global best practices endorsed by the IMI.
All mediators who complete or have completed the Fair Practice Mediation Skills Training Course—and who are or have been assessed as competent—are eligible to apply for membership with MSSA.
Mediators seeking accreditation in terms of the Mediation Directive and Protocol for the Gauteng Division are reminded that proper training is not only a guideline but a professional responsibility. To be recognised, individuals must complete formal mediation training, participate in practical roleplay assessments, and undergo a structured interview and application process conducted by MSSA.
This ensures mediators meet the ethical and procedural standards required for accreditation and provide the highest quality service to individuals in conflict.
Upon successful acceptance by the MSSA, they may be certified as Qualified Mediators and registered on the centralised Gauteng Division’s database for court-annexed mediations.
📌 Important: Registration on this centralised database is only possible through a listed RMO like MSSA. This means that membership with an RMO is not optional—it is a formal requirement for mediators who wish to receive court-referred matters and act under Rule 41A.
Through this partnership, Fair Practice and MSSA are committed to provide a pathway:
- Certifying mediators who meet the required standards of training and competency,
- Supporting professional registration and development,
- Offering guidance to newly certified mediators on how to enlist for court-annexed mediation work, and
- Fulfilling a shared mission to promote transformation, access to justice, and excellence in mediation.
