Course overview

Our accredited Mediation Skills Training will prepare any person to mediate disputes in any environment, including high-complex disputes in any sector. We maintain a high standard of training that includes, pre-preparation, role-plays, group work and current practices of mediation both nationally and globally.

Our trainers are expert mediators who have attended extensive training themselves to provide practical coaching to each delegate during the course. Our trainers will provide in-depth knowledge of the practice and process of mediation from their own experiences.

This course is designed for professionals, including HR practitioners, from any sector involved in dispute resolution. This course is also designed for anyone representing parties in a mediation. Delegates will be taught effective communication skills and process management to move the dispute towards a collaborative approach to reaching a realistic mediated agreement.

The Fair Practice Mediation Skills 5-day (40 hours) training programme which has been included in the Arbitration Foundation of South Africa ADR Diploma (endorsed by the University of Pretoria) ensures that anyone undertaking this 5-day programme is trained on up-to-date theory and practices of mediation. All participants undertaking this programme through Fair Practice and its collaborating partners will be taught the foundational skills of conducting themselves competently as a mediator and once completed successfully may begin practice as a mediator.

This training program complies with the skill set needed to be regarded as a mediator in terms of Rule 70 of the Magistrates Court Rules and Rule 41A of the High Court Rules of South Africa. In addition for any other profession, the course is accredited by SABPP for 30 CPD points.

What previous delegates say:

“I have had the pleasure of attending mediation training that was facilitated by Veerash. She is knowledgeable, patient and relatable as a facilitator thus enabling robust discussion and analysis – which is where the key learning sits. I really enjoyed her approach, she is very measured and succinct in her thinking and practical in the delivery of the material.”

Akona Makoboka – Employee Relations Lead (Africa), ACCENTURE

“I have attended Mediation training presented by Veerash and I was impressed by her depth of knowledge and approachability. She conveyed the theory of the mediation process, but made the contents very practical for all the delegates. I would recommend her for this type of training without reservation.”
